Brotzeit

Brotzeit is German for “bread time”; the tradition of punctuating the work day with a savory snack. We’d already loosely adopted this tradition before our trip to Germany but we tip-toed around the truth by calling it happy hour. Bread time is much more direct - as we often expect from our Bavarian friends - and let’s be honest, we’re here for the bread.

Aside from celebrating this German tradition, this taps into the notion that beer is liquid bread. Perhaps, in the absence of “solid” bread, this beer would fill in admirably – with its subtle bread crust and toasty notes. But we’d prefer to pair it with bread, butter, ham and pickles. Of course, we would never force you to pick favorites: we greatly enjoy both “states” of bread. Prost!
